About the NewSongs Workshop
Part 1 on November 3rd will kick off with a series of hands-on writing exercises. Then participants will take their best Song Starts and team up with colleagues to create full songs. This is a great opportunity to:
• Discover & expand your strong suits as a writer
• Meet new colleagues who whose talents complement your own
• Give and get valuable feedback and support
• Work together towards a firm deadline: a live gig featuring the group’s new songs
All committed songwriters are welcome, and are invited to bring portable instruments and notebooks.
Special thanks to The ASCAP Foundation for making this songwriting workshop possible.
Alex Forbes has placed numerous tunes on the Billboard Pop, Dance and Adult Contemporary and International charts, including the smash singles “Don’t Rush Me,” “Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix,” and “Too Turned On.” Others have appeared on gold and platinum albums, TV and feature film projects including the Denzel Washington movie Déjà Vu. She co-leads the Songwriting Forum at NYU Steinhardt’s Masters Degree program, and is the author of Write Songs Right Now and SongLab. Alex also coaches songwriters one-on-one through her site, CreativeSongwriter.com.
