We’re kicking off 2012 – an election year – with POLITICAL SONGS OF CHANGE!
Featuring Jen Chapin, Rob Morsberger, Valerie Ghent and the first TEN songwriters who sign up. POLITICAL SONGS ONLY!
Why now? Why Political Songs of Change, now? Jen Chapin shares her powerful argument:
In times of economic crisis, hunger, war, political division and environmental degradation, what can a song possibly mean?
EVERYTHING.
Over the past ten turbulent years, we artists have had plenty of cause to wonder whether music is really the way to make a difference. But what we’ve come to realize is that it is in art that a vital democratic dialogue takes place. With our political discourse polluted by dumbed-down soundbites and slippery notions of reality, it is art and music where we can most effectively seek the truth. We play songs of nuance, humor, celebration, lamentation, anger and elucidation, searching for community and weaving together shared narratives.
Music has played a role — inspirational, motivational and even practical — in each of the transformational movements in history, and it’s not going to stop now.
JOIN US!
Sign up at 7pm (first 1o songwriters – political songs ONLY)
show at 7:30pm.
